Dr. Weston Carpiaux was born and raised in the town of Benicia, located in the Northeast corner of the San Francisco Bay Area.

His undergraduate education brought him to the University of California, San Diego.  During his four-year stay he double majored, receiving a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Animal Physiology & Neuroscience, and Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Psychology.  Outside of his studies he represented the university on the intercollegiate ice hockey team, and served the community on an ambulance as an emergency medical technician.

Following a less traditional route after graduation, Dr. Wes spent time as a teacher at residential science facilities instructing courses for students in marine science, oceanography, astronomy, and physics while integrating outdoor activities such as snorkeling, kayaking, sailing, hiking, and rock climbing.  There he developed the hobby of SCUBA diving, ultimately culminating with the completion of his divemaster certification in the Bay Islands of Honduras.  It was during this stay in Central America that he serendipitously began volunteer work at a dental clinic in the highlands of Guatemala, sparking his pursuit of a career in dentistry.

Dr. Wes went on to obtain a Master of Science (MS) in Biology from California State University, East Bay and received his dental education at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, earning a Doctorate in Dental Surgery (DDS).

During his dental training Dr. Wes earned numerous honors including those in scholastic achievement – “Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honorary Dental Society Zeta Chapter Scholarship,” and clinical achievement – “Yoshio Yamaguchi Academy for Excellence in Dentistry Endowed Scholarship.”  Upon graduation he was granted the prestigious “Clifton O. Dummett / Nicola Malik Ethics Award,” presented to the member of the graduating class who distinguished him or herself in ethics and professionalism, and the advancement of ethics in the profession.

Dr. Wes received an additional two years of specialty training in orthodontics at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA where he simultaneously earned a Postdoctoral Certificate in Orthodontics and a Master of Science (MS) in Oral Biology.  During his orthodontic training he was appointed to, and served on the Kornberg School of Dentistry Honor Board.

Research endeavors brought Dr. Wes around the globe, presenting findings in dental and craniofacial development at meetings both nationally and abroad.  This work led to multiple publications in journals within the dental profession.

Dr. Wes is grateful to be in a position to work with local youth and adults, developing oral health treatments to specifically help each individual who sits in his chair. His enthusiasm is what patients respond to most, and they enjoy his thoughtful and thorough explanations, making it easy to understand complex orthodontic conditions.  Dr. Wes stays current with advancements in orthodontic treatment and remains involved in the progress of his profession.
